Mayala's Kathak classes are designed to create the necessary physical and intellectual infrastructure and to offer the best guidance possible for the student who embarks on the journey of becoming a Kathak dancer. Her Kathak training is a holistic and integrated program in the traditional classical format. It includes technical skills of the different aspects of the art form, old and new dance compositions, performance skills and techniques, as well as dance theory (relating to the disciplines of dance, music and literature) The student is encouraged to attend Kathak dance performances in order to connect with the end products which are possible as a result of her/his training Mayala's training program follows the guidelines of the syllabus of the ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers for Dancing) which is based in the United Kingdom , and the Kathak Kendra (National Institute of Khatak) based in New Delhi, India.
